CCEE1738 - Pirates

For this week's CCEE Challenge, Kelly has reminded us that Tuesday was "Talk like a Pirate Day!" She has challenged us to create a card using anything pirate related and promised us extra 'treasure/booty' for using a map anywhere on the card! No extra booty for me!

The die cuts for my pirate design are by Cuttlebug and the sentiment is by Tim Holtz.

Autumn Splendor - KSS

I am calling today's all occasion card sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps "Autumn Splendor." I love the colors and textures of the fall and decided to use them here today to encourage autumn along its way as it makes its approach on South Texas. I so look forward to its arrival each and every year!!

CCEE 1737 - Roald Dahl Day

Kelly McKown-Santi has another fabulous challenge this week for the CCEE Stampers. We are celebrating Roald Dahl DayFor challenge #1737,  we are to create a card using any one of his books as our inspiration.

Back before I retired from teaching, there were years when I threw out the basal reader and based my entire reading program for my 4th graders on the amazing books written by Roald Dahl. My students honed and sharpened their reading skills on his delightful tales of fantasy including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, The B.F.G.,  The Witches, and Matilda. But their all time favorite of his books was his autobiography, Boy: Tales of Childhood!  What a life he led and shared with children the world over!

KSS - Ladybug Parade

The 4th Monday of the month brings with it another Let's Make a Scene design sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps. For this cheerful birthday card, I stamped the two sunflowers from Multi Step Giant Sunflower first and then the stems and leaves. I next placed masks over the flowers and leaves and laid a lattice stencil over the top. Then it was safe to sponge the grassy background and the sky. After removing the stencil and the masks, I added the four ladybugs. Finally after matting it and mounting it to the card front, I added the Happy Birthday sentiment from Whole Family with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

CCEE1734 - Watercolor Background

CCEE hostess, Anne Harmon, has taken it easy on us this week. Her only request for this week's CCEE Stampers Challenge is to create a watercolor background for our cards. The rest is up to us.

I used my distress oxide inks and lots of water to create my background for today's design!

KSS Monday - Bold Birthday

For today's post sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps, I have made a bold and bright birthday design. The new Distress Oxide Inks by Ranger are so much fun to work with. They make great backgrounds and pair so perfectly with KSS' Big & Bold Swashes and Make a Big Statement. For this card, I created an emboss resist background by embossing the swashes in black before adding the Distress Oxides over them.

CCEE1733 - Nautical Cards

As the summer draws to a close, our CCEE hostess, Anne Harmon has asked that we make a card with a nautical theme.  She said we could include the beach if we want.

LMS - Palms on the Beach - KSS

For this week's Let's Make a Scene design sponsored by Kitchen Sink Stamps, I have returned to one of my favorite places---the beach. Could there be a more perfect way to end the summer? I don't think so!! I think it will be a great masculine birthday with it's seaside theme and tall design.

Images for this design came from the following Kitchen Sink sets:

CCEE1732 - Insects

This week the topic is insects.  Anne's challenge to the CCEE Stampers is to make a card using bees, dragonflies, any kind of insect.  She said to be sure to add some stickles to their wings (if they have wings!), but I forgot! Ooops! Sorry, Anne!

The ladybug dies are from Elizabeth Craft Designs.
The branch and leaves are Sizzix dies.
